Daniel's vision of four world kingdoms
Dan. 7:1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of
Babylon
[1] Daniel had
[a.] a
dream and
[b.] visions of his head
[11.[ upon his bed:
[2] then he wrote the
dream, [and]
[3] told the sum of the
matters.
[1] I saw in my vision by night,
and,
[2] behold, the four winds [wars, strife, and judgments from God,
(D-864)] of the heaven
[a.] strove upon the great sea [peoples]
[3] four great beasts [kingdoms and their rulers]
[a.] came up from the sea [four kingdoms from diverse
peoples (vs. 2,
Rev.
13:1; c/p.
Dan. 7:17;
Rev. 17:15)],
[11.] diverse one from another.
7:4 [1]
The first [was] like a lion, and
[a.] had eagle's wings:
[11.] I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and
[b.] it was
[11.] lifted up from the earth, and
[12.] made stand upon the feet
[aa.] as a man, and
[c.] a man's heart was given to it [King Nebuchadnezzar] .
7:5
And
[2] behold another beast, a
second,
[a.] like to a bear, and
[11.] it raised up itself on one side, and
[12.] [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it
[aa.] between the teeth of it: and
[bb.] they said [the 3 ribs said] thus unto it,
[11.] Arise, devour much flesh.
7:6
After this
[3] I beheld, and lo
another [beast],
[a.] like a leopard, which had upon the back of it
[11.] four wings of a fowl;
[b.] the beast had also four heads
[the four generals of Alexander
the Great]; and
[11.] dominion was given to it.
7:7
After this
[4] I saw in the night visions,
and
[a.] behold a fourth beast,
[11.] dreadful and
[12.] terrible, and
[13.] strong exceedingly; and
[14.] it had great iron teeth:
[15.] it devoured and
[16.] [it] brake in pieces, and
[17.] [it] stamped the residue
[aa.] with the feet of it: and
[18.] it [was] diverse from all
the beasts that [were] before it; and
[19.] it had ten horns.
