EZEKIEL 39

The destruction of Gog

Ezek. 39:1  Therefore, thou son of man,

            [1] prophesy against Gog,

            [2] and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD;

[a.] Behold, I [am] against thee, O Gog,

[11.] the chief prince (Ezek. 38:1) of

                                                [aa.] Meshech and

                                                [ab.] Tubal:

39:2  And I    [b.] will turn thee back, and

[c.] [will] leave but the sixth part of thee*

[*Five-sixths of the armies of the Gog confederacy (Ezek. 38:1-6) are destroyed by God’s supernatural intervention.  This sets the stage for the realignment of 10 European-Asian nations that will become the revised Roman Empire, out of which will come the revived Grecian Empire headed by the Antichrist (see How To Quickly Locate the Antichrist in Scripture; see also Chapter 13 and Chapter 17 in The Book of Revelation In Verse-by-Verse Outline) on this web site)]

 and

[d.] will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and

[e.] will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:

39:3  And I    [f.] will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and

[g.] will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.

 39:4

[h.] Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel [c/p., the battle of Armageddon is fought at Megiddo, on the plain of Esdraelon in the valley of Jezreel, or valley of Jehoshapat (Ezek. 38:8; Rev. 16:16, Joel 3:2,14)],

                                    [11.] thou, and

                                    [12.] all thy bands, and

[13.] the people that [is] with thee:

[aa.] I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort [Ezek. 39:17],

[ab.] and [I will give thee to] the beasts of the field to be devoured.

39:5               [i.] Thou shalt fall upon the open field:

[k.] for I have spoken [it],

[aa.] saith the Lord GOD.

God will make His name known to both Israel and the nations

 39:6  [1] And I will send a fire

                        [a.] on Magog, and

[b.] among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and

                                    [11.] they shall know

[aa.] that I [am] the LORD.

39:7  [1] So will I make my holy name known [the nation Israel must be restored first to the name of Jehovah, before it can receive the name of Jesus]

[a.] in the midst of my people Israel; and

[2] I will not [let them] pollute my holy name any more: and

[3] the heathen shall know that

[a.] I [am] the LORD, the

                                    [11.] Holy One in Israel.

 39:8  [4] Behold,

                        [a.] it is come, and

                        [b.] it is done,

                                    [11.] saith the Lord GOD;

                        [b.] this [is] the day

[11.] whereof I have spoken.
