WHAT TIME IT IS®

FIRST THESSALONIANS 2

1 Thes. 2:10  Ye [are] witnesses, and God [also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

2:11  As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father [doth] his children,

God has called us unto His kingdom and glory

2:12  That ye would walk worthy of God,

[1] who hath called you unto

                        [a.] his kingdom and

                        [b.] [his] glory.

2:13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

2:14  For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for

[1] ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen,

                        [a.] even as they [have]

                        [b.] of the Jews:

 2:15                           [11.]Who both

[aa.] killed the Lord Jesus, and

[bb.] [killed] their own prophets, and

[12.] [who]  have persecuted [#1559] us; and

[aa.] they please not God [they are without faith], and

[bb.] are contrary to all men [they oppose themselves]:

[#1559, to pursue out, persecute (Luke 11:49, only)]

2:16                           [13.] Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles

[aa.] that they might be saved,

[111.] to fill up their sins alway:

[14.] for the wrath [of God (1 Thes. 1:10)] is come upon them [the Jews of verse 14] to the uttermost.

2:17  But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

Satan is the hinderer of the Church and the author of the affliction, persecution, and tribulation

 2:18  Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again;

            [1] but Satan hindered us.

 2:19  For

            [1] what [is] our

                        [a.] hope, or

                        [b.] joy, or

                        [c.] crown of rejoicing?

            [2] [Are] not even ye

[a.] in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ [the Anointed One]

[b.] at his coming [(#3952) His coming for His Church: the Rapture]?

[#3952, parousia, a being near, advent, return, coming, presence [from #3019, to privily bring in] (Matt. 24:3, Matt. 24:27; Matt. 24:37; Matt. 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:23; 1 Thes. 2:19; 1 Thes. 3:13; 1 Thes. 4:15; 1 Thes. 5:23; 2 Thes. 2:1;  2 Thes. 2:8; Jas. 5: 7, 8; 1 John 2:28)]

 2:20  For ye are

            [1] our glory and

            [2] [our] joy.
