WHAT TIME IT IS®

SECOND THESSALONIANS 1

Our faith is to grow

2 Thes. 1:1  Paul, and Silvanus [Silas], and Timotheus [Timothy],

[1] unto the church of the Thessalonians

[a.] in God our Father and

[b.] [in] the Lord Jesus Christ:

1:2  Grace unto you, and peace, from

            [1] God our Father, and

[2] [from] the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:3  We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because

[1] that your faith groweth exceedingly, and

            [2] the charity [love] of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

It takes both patience and faith to endure persecutions and tribulations

1:4  So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your

            [1] patience and

            [2]  faith in all your

                        [a.] persecutions [#1375] and

[b.] tribulations [#2347] that ye endure:

[#1375, diogmos, persecution (Matt. 13:21; Mark 4:17; 10:30; Acts 8:1; 13:50, 2 Thes 1:4)

[#2347, thlipsis,  pressure, afflicted(-tion), anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, trouble (c/p. #2346, 1 Thes. 3:4; Matt. 13:21; Matt. 24:9, Matt. 24:21, Matt. 24:29; Mark 13:19, Mark 13:24; John 16:33; Acts  11:19; 14:22; Rom. 5:3; 8:35; 2 Cor.  1:4, 1 Thes. 1:6; 1 Thes. 3:3, 1 Thes. 3:7; 2 Thes 1:4, 2 Thes. 1:6; Rev. 1:9; Rev. 2:9-10, Rev. 2:22; Rev. 7:14)

1:5  [Which is] [your faith and patience in the presence of persecution and tribulation]

[1] a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God,

[2] that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God [c/p. Acts 14:22],

[a.] for which ye also suffer [our system of God-given rewards comes with persecutions (c/p. Mark 10:29-30)]:

1:6  Seeing [it is] a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation [vs. 4]

[1] to them that trouble [#2346] you [God’s judgments are based upon the law of sowing and reaping]

[#2346, thilbo, to crowd--afflict, narrow, throng, suffer tribulation, trouble (Matt. 7:14; 2 Cor. 1:6, 1 Thes. 3:4, 2 Thes. 1:6, 2 Thes. 1:7)]

[c/p:  Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. (Rom. 12:19; Heb. 10:30; Deut. 32:35, 41, 43).]
