The greeting
and description of Jesus
Rev. 2:1 Unto the angel [messenger
or pastor] of the church of Ephesus write;
[1] These things saith he
[a.] that holdeth
the seven stars in his right hand,
[b.] who
walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2:2 I know
[1] thy works, and
[2] thy labour, and
[3] thy patience, and
[4] how thou canst not bear them
which are evil: and
[5] thou hast tried them which
say they are apostles,
[a.] and are not,
[b.] and hast found them liars:
2:3 And
[6] hast borne, and
[7] hast patience, and
[8] for my name's sake hast
laboured, and
[9] hast not fainted.
2:4 Nevertheless I have
[somewhat] against thee, because
[1] thou hast left thy first love.
2:5 [1] Remember
therefore from whence thou art fallen, and
[2] repent, and
[3] do the first works; or else
[a.] I will
come unto thee quickly, and
[b.] [I]will remove thy candlestick out of his place [your
light will no longer shine unto the
world],
[11.] except thou repent.
2:6 But this thou hast,
[1] that thou hatest the deeds of
the Nicolaitanes,
[a.] which I also hate.
2:7 He that hath an ear,
let him hear
[1] what the
Spirit saith unto the churches;
[a.] To him
that overcometh
[11.] will I give to eat of the tree of
life,
[aa.] which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
