One of the
messengers shows John the judgment of the great whore
[religious Babylon of the revised Roman
Empire]
Rev. 17:1 And there
came one of the seven angels
[messengers
(Rev.
15:1;
Rev. 19:10;
Rev. 22:8)]
[1] which had the
seven vials, and
[2] talked
with me, saying unto me,
[a.] Come hither;
[b.] I will show unto thee
[11.]
the judgment
of the great whore
[aa.] that sitteth upon many waters
(people; Rev. 17:15):
17:2 With whom
[111.] the kings of the earth
[aaa.] have committed fornication, and
[112.] the inhabitants of the earth
[aaa.] have been made drunk
[1111.] with the wine of her fornication.
The woman on a scarlet colored
beast
17:3 So
[1.] he
carried me away
[a.] in the spirit
[b.] into the wilderness: and
[2] I saw a woman [vs. 18]
[a.]
sit upon
[a.] a scarlet coloured [bloodstained] beast [vs. 8],
[11.] full of names of blasphemy [<names, not name> (c/p.
Rev.
13:1)], having
[12.] seven heads [Rev.
17:9] and
[13.] ten horns [on the
seventh head (Rev. 17:12)].
17:4 And the woman was [dressed like
a queen, or a prostitute]
[1] arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and
[2] decked with gold and precious stones and pearls,
[3] having a golden cup in her hand
[a.] full of abominations and
[b.] [full of] filthiness of her fornication [menstrual blood]:
17:5 And upon her forehead
[was]
[1] a name
written,
[a.]
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
[b.] THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
[c.] [THE MOTHER
OF THE] ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
The blood of saints and martyrs of Jesus
17:6 And I saw
[1] the woman drunken
[a.] with the blood of the saints
[throughout the ages], and
[b.] with the blood of the martyrs of
Jesus [in these last days, as well as the former (Rev. 19:2)]: and
[2] when I saw her,
[a.] I wondered
[11.]
with great admiration [I can’t believe
what I’m seeing].
The mystery of the woman
revealed
17:7 And the angel
[messenger] said unto me,
[1] Wherefore
didst thou marvel?
[2] I will
tell thee
[a.] the mystery of the woman, and
[b.] [the mystery] of the beast
[11.] that carrieth her, which hath the
[aa.] seven heads and
[ab.] ten horns.
[the Prince of Grecia
17:8 The beast
that thou sawest (Rev. 17:11)
[1] was [was ruling nations before John’s time; the prince
of Grecia (Dan. 10:20 )], and
[2] is not [had ceased from ruling during John’s day]; and
[3] shall ascend
[a.]
out of the bottomless pit [lit., shall ascend out of the abyss—the beast is of demonic origin: most likely
a fallen angel], and
[4] [shall] go into perdition [destruction]:
and they that dwell on the
earth shall wonder,
[a.] whose names
[11.]
were not written
[aa.] in the book of life
[111.] from the foundation of the world
[c/p.
Rev. 13:8],
[b.] when they behold [they get to see this beast]
[11.] the beast [the demonic ruler of the Antichrist] that
[aa..] was, and
[ab.] is not, and
[ac.] yet is.
[The Prince of Grecia (Dan. 10:12-13, Dan. 8:21-22, Dan. 10:20) had ceased to rule in the Apostle John’s day, but shall yet ascend out of the bottomless pit [the abyss] and shall be the demonic force behind the Antichrist—Revived Greece. This ruler of darkness (Eph 6:12) over the kingdom of Persia withstood God's messenger angel, Gabriel, for 21 days. God sent the answer to Daniel's prayer on the first day that he set himself to pray and fast. It took the warrior angel, Michael, to come in and fight in order to loose the blessing of God sent to Daniel. There is resistance to answered prayer in the kingdom of darkness, but our angels will get our blessings to us—if we do not faint (give up, cave in, or quit)!]
