DANIEL 12

The time of Jacob's trouble

(Jer. 30:7; Matt. 24:21; Luke 17:28)

Dan. 12:1 And at that time [at the exact appointed set time (c/p. Dan. 11:27, Dan. 11:29, Dan. 11:35, Dan. 11:40)]

[1] shall Michael stand up (c/p. Rev. 12:7),

[a.] the great prince [archangel]

[11.] which standeth for

[aa.] the children of thy people [at the time of the end]: and

[2] there shall be a time of trouble,

[a.] such as never was

[11.] since there was a nation

[aa.] [even] to that same time: and

[b.] at that time [at the time Michael stands up]

[3] thy people shall be delivered,

[a.] every one

[11.] that shall be found written in the book.

[This time of trouble is the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jer. 30:7), which takes place during the last 3 ½ years of this the age of grace, is culminated by the second coming of Jesus, the Messiah. The people that shall be delivered are "thy people"—natural descendants of Daniel (Dan. 12:1; Dan. 10:14). Because their names are written in the book [of life], they are born again Christians. These also are the mighty and holy people of Dan.12:7 and Dan. 8:24: probably saved through the ministry of the two witnesses (Rev. 11:3), and the 144,000 evangelists from the 12 tribes of Israel (Rev. 7:4). The Antichrist Covenant week and Daniel’s 70^th week of years overlap during the time of Jacob's trouble.]

The resurrection of the just and the unjust

12:2 And

[1] many of them that sleep

[a.] in the dust

[11.] of the earth

[b.] shall awake,

[11.] some to everlasting life, and

[12.] some to shame

[aa.] [and] everlasting contempt (Rev. 20:4-6, Luke 14:14, John 5:28-29).

12:3 And

[2] they that be wise [they are soul winners (Dan. 12:10; Pro. 11:30)]

[a.] shall shine

[11.] as the brightness of the firmament; and

[b.] they that turn many to righteousness

[11.] as the stars for ever and ever.

The Book of Daniel is sealed until the time of the end

12:4 But thou, O Daniel,

[1] shut up the words, and

[2] seal the book,

[a.] [even] to the time of the end (Dan. 12:9):

[11.] many shall run to and fro [carried about with every wind of doctrine lying in wait to deceive, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils (Eph. 4:14; 1 Tim. 4:1)], and

[12.] knowledge shall be increased [knowledge of the things of God as He has revealed in His Word]
